Animal Care Assistant - Berwick upon Tweed
Purpose of post
To act as an ACA within the practice nursing team, assisting the Veterinary Surgeons (VS), Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) and Student Veterinary Nurses (SVN) in their examinations and treatment of animals attending the practice. Provide a high standard of care and husbandry to in patients, adhering to a high level of infection control. To assist the day to day running of the practice to ensure smooth running of procedures and consults, including reception duties.
Summary of Responsibilities
Working closely with VS, RVN and SVN, under their supervision and guidance the ACA’s duties will include assisting with inpatient care, answering phone calls, infection control, lab work, handling and preparing medical equipment, restocking and animal handling and restraint. 1. Essential technical skills / professional qualifications / relevant education and training
Applicants must hold 5 GCSE’s grade C or above (or equivalent) including Math and English. Computer literate.

Animal handling including walking dogs and basic cat handling is advantageous. Polite, confident, positive attitude and an excellent team player with great communication skills.
3. Desirable knowledge and experience
Currently studying or interested in studying for a qualification in animal care or management.

Small Animal Vet - Kelso

Seeking: Permanent SA vet, 4.5 day week, 1:3 Saturday mornings, no OOH.
Where: Galedin Veterinary, The Knowes, Kelso, TD5 7BH
Background: We are an expanding mixed practice in the lively market town of Kelso in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The branch is part of the wider Galedin team (galedinvet.com) within the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. Our Kelso branch is a tight knit team with 3.5 SA vets, 2 RVNs, an ACA and 4 LA vets. We are lucky to have a very experienced reception team who manage our diaries exceptionally well and genuinely look out for all of us. Our out of hours is provided within our Galashiels branch by our dedicated OOH service E-Vets Borders. We also have a small consulting branch at Coldstream which is staffed by a Kelso vet daily for a short afternoon consult session. Who we need: We need an enthusiastic, experienced small animal vet to join us to support our expanding case load. We enjoy teaching, with a regular rota of students, and have a relaxed atmosphere in the practice where we all support each other’s learning. We would encourage you to come and visit us to see if you think we would be a great fit for you.
What we can offer you: Varied 1st opinion caseload, mostly cats and dogs with a few exotics cases - mainly rabbits. 15 minute appointments as routine with 30 minutes for euthanasia appointments, blood sampling or more complicated cases. Opportunities to consult and operate equally shared between the team. Working day usually 8.30am – 6pm and we nearly always get away for lunch with the Cobby and Mayfield within easy reach for lunchtime group dog walks. Support of an experienced and friendly team of vets, most of us have been with the practice for 4 years +. Really strong team ethos with an active social committee and enjoy regular after work meals at The Waggon. We are an outdoorsy bunch and are lucky to be within easy reach of the Eildons, Ruberslaw, the Cheviot and only 2 hours from the lakes and the most southerly Munros. We have even ventured paddleboarding after work! 1:3 Saturday mornings are sole charge 8am – 12pm, but you will have an experienced receptionist or nurse to support you and phone back up is available from our Galashiels branch. OOH provided within Galedin at E-vets Borders Salary dependant on experience, but up to £47, 000 for FT hours. 33 days holiday per year (pro rata for PT) CPD encouraged and funded - 5 days annually with £1750 budget (pro rata for PT), as well as opportunities to support certificates for the suitable candidate Staff dogs welcome (current motley crew includes lurchers, spaniels, labradors, terriers, a pointer and a 3 legged collie!).

Mary now primarily focuses on LA work but is still a frequent bubbly visitor to our prep room and lends a hand whenever needed.

Our Galashiels team is looking for a part time receptionist to join our busy ever growing practice! Are you the ideal person to join our team? At Galedin we pride ourselves on our client care, and in this role your strong interpersonal skills will be key to developing and maintaining our client relationships. Your principal areas of responsibility will be to provide a first-class friendly and efficient service whilst welcoming clients, dealing with queries and booking appointments (face to face and by telephone), and taking and recording payments. Previous experience of working in a veterinary or agricultural environment will be beneficial, although it is not essential as training will be provided. What is essential, however, is your ability to demonstrate an excellent track record in the delivery of customer service to a very high standard.
In addition to the above, you must be computer literate, numerate, and possess excellent time management skills. Hours of work are expected to be 29 hours per week. The role fulfils a Saturday morning rota from 8.00am to 1.00pm on a rotational 1 in 3 basis. The working pattern for this position is expected to be; Monday 8am-1pm, Tuesday 8am-1pm, Wednesday 8am-6pm, Thursday 1pm-6pm, Friday 12pm-6pm. A flexible approach is desirable to provide cover for any planned holidays or unplanned absence. Come and join E-Vets Borders based in Galedin Veterinary Clinic in Galashiels. Out of hours covering several veterinary clinics in the Borders. We are looking for 2 Emergency and Critical Care out of hours Veterinary Surgeons to join and expand our team. Offering Shared rota, covering weeknights and weekends. Includes some weekend days and a few Bank Holiday days - Full time OR Part time hours considered. Salary dependent on experience. We can offer a well equipped clinic with NEW ICU. Genuine enthusiasm for emergency and critical care required. You should be confident working as a sole vet with a capable RVN also on site. Supportive team with back up is available if needed.
