Experienced Farm or Mixed Vet

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced farm or mixed vet (with farm bias) to join our friendly team in Kelso, situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders. We work with many forward-thinking farmers - Our caseload involves working with many large commercial suckler cow and sheep farmers, with a number of pedigree herds and flocks and a number of large dairy farms. We are well equipped with Easiscans, Duoscan, bull and ram testing equipment with phase contrast microscopes, in-house LA biochemistry & haematology. We are looking for a vet with good communication skills and an ability to develop strong working relationships with our loyal and long standing local clients. The position would involve health planning and advising on preventative medicine and management, as well as the usual routine and emergency work. The practice has a number of assistants enrolled in certificate programmes (with study time provided) to actively promote career progression.

For a suitable mixed vet candidate, there would be the opportunity to maintain and develop a SA interest as part of the Kelso SA team. The role would suit a confident vet who enjoys working as part of an experienced, enthusiastic team, providing excellent clinical care and who is keen to develop their skills. Equine Vet - Maternity Cover

Seeking: EQ vet. 12-month maternity cover. 4.5 day week. 1:5 OOH rota.

Where: Galedin Veterinary, Cheeklaw Veterinary Centre, Station Road, Duns, TD11 3HS.
 

When: March/April 2023

Background: We are a busy, 5-vet equine team, working within a large mixed-practice branch in Duns, approximately 1 hour south of Edinburgh. The branch is part of the wider Galedin team (galedinvet.com) within the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and North Northumberland. In the Equine team we cater for all types of equids; including horses, donkeys and mules, out on the road and at our equine clinic, additionally we provide our own OOH cover, for which we cover equine only.
 

Who we need: We need an enthusiastic, experienced equine vet to join us for 12 months while one of our fabulous vets has her new baby! We would encourage you to come and visit us at the clinic to see if you think we would be a great fit for you.

What we can offer you:
Varied 1st opinion caseload, with back up of a referral centre 1 hour away.
Working day 08.30–18:00, and we nearly always get away for lunch! 

A 4.5 day working week, with the option to take a half day off per week or a full day off per fortnight.

Ambulatory and clinic facilities comprising; stabling, stocks, full GA facilities, trot-up and soft & hard lunge.

Modern equine diagnostic equipment including video endoscope, video gastroscope, battery operated digital radiography, HD oroscope, ultrasound and three motorised HDE/Dynamic dental kits.

Company car with personal use, along with a work phone and RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid for.
Support of an experienced and friendly team of vets, most of us have been with the practice for 3 years +.

Varied experience and interest within the team; with one colleague having a keen interest in dentistry, two colleagues enrolled in a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Internal Medicine.
Really strong team ethos with an active social committee, we organise everything from cinema outings to zip-lining to stand-up paddle boarding!
Salary dependant on experience, but up to £40,000 for FT hours.
33 days holiday per year (pro rata for PT)

Receptionist - Innerleithen, Scottish Borders

We are looking for a permanent part-time Veterinary Receptionist to take charge of our Innerleithen surgery. The successful candidate will work closely with the Veterinary Surgeon, although will also be required to work independently.

At Galedin we pride ourselves on our client care, and in this role your strong interpersonal skills will be key to developing and maintaining our client relationships.

Your principal areas of responsibility will be to provide a first-class friendly and efficient service whilst welcoming clients, dealing with queries and booking appointments (face to face and by telephone), and taking and recording payments. Some animal handling may be required (full training will be provided).

Previous experience of working in a veterinary or agricultural environment will be beneficial, although it is not essential as training will be provided.

What is essential, however, is your ability to demonstrate an excellent track record in the delivery of customer service to a very high standard. 

In addition to the above, you must be computer literate, numerate, and possess excellent time management skills. You must also be comfortable to work by yourself as some lone working will be included in this role. 

Hours of work are expected to be 9 hours per week, Tuesday to Thursday from 2.30 to 5.30pm, although there may be some flexibility. A flexible approach is desirable to provide cover for any planned holidays or unplanned absences, potentially at our other surgeries.

Emergency & Critical Care RVN - E-Vets Borders

Are you interested in a new and challenging role?

E-vets in Galashiels is recruiting for a fulltime RVN although part time will be considered.

We are based in Galedin Galashiels, manning the clinic overnight, caring for inpatients and covering the out of hours emergency and critical care for a number of practices within the area.

We are a small, supportive, experienced and hardworking team. You will be the sole nurse on duty with a veterinary surgeon, so we prefer someone who is experienced and confident to work alone although good support is available. The role requires close cooperation and effective communication within our team and the wider Galedin team as well as neighbouring practices.

We would support completion of certificates and any further study with 15 hours of paid CPD and a generous CPD allowance.

Full time will average around 41 hours per week with 6 weeks holiday. We work in an annualised hours rota system which means you will be required to cover some weekend days and nights (maximum of 2 out of 3 weekends) as part of your rota and you will be needed to cover a share of Christmas and New year bank holidays.

Night shifts are from 6pm to 8.30 am and weekend days from 12 noon Saturday and 8am Sundays finishing at 6.30pm.

Although often busy, there are occasional opportunities for rest, study and breaks and time off between runs of shifts to recover.

Come and join E-Vets Borders based in Galedin Veterinary Clinic in Galashiels.  Out of hours covering several veterinary clinics in the Borders.    We are looking for 2 Emergency and Critical Care out of hours Veterinary Surgeons to join and expand our team. Offering Shared rota, covering weeknights and weekends. Includes some weekend days and a few Bank Holiday days - Full time OR Part time hours considered.   Salary dependent on experience.   We can offer a well equipped clinic with NEW ICU. Genuine enthusiasm for emergency and critical care required. You should be confident working as a sole vet with a capable RVN also on site. Supportive team with back up is available if needed.
