Small Animal Vet- Scottish Borders
An opportunity is available from August for an experienced vet seeking a senior position.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic vet to join our friendly team based at our Duns branch.
We get the best of both worlds being based in the beautiful rural Scottish Borders but within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh.
We are a mixed practice with excellent small animal facilities, having moved to new premises last year. Our modern diagnostic equipment includes new DR x-ray, dental x-ray and good quality ultrasound. We aim to provide a great first opinion service with clinical freedom to follow cases up.
You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative team of experienced vets who enjoy sharing ideas and discussing cases. The ideal candidate will also take satisfaction in mentoring and guiding our younger colleagues as they develop their skills.
Most of our vets work a 4.5 day week but there is potential for flexibility.
The role at the moment includes being part of our out-of-hours on call rota, with time in lieu for nights and weekends on call. Currently a 1 in 8 with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings.
Salary will be dependent upon experience, but the total package would include the benefits listed below. The practice has a number of assistants enrolled in certificate programmes (with study time provided) to actively promote career progression.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Farm Vet to join us in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders.
Galedin is an RCVS accredited, rural, mixed practice with an established beef and sheep client base, alongside small animal and equine services.
We have all the essentials including phase contrast microscopy, Pulsator-V and both linear and curvilinear ultrasound scanners. The practice has a number of certificate holders and colleagues enrolled in certificate programmes and excellent support is available from experienced colleagues.
The Role:
This position will mainly involve working with our progressive suckler farms where we offer routine services from pelvimetry, AI and bull testing through to pregnancy scanning and blood sampling in addition to any emergency work.
There is the opportunity to work with our pedigree sheep flocks, as well as our enthusiastic and progressive commercial sheep farms with our dedicated Flock Health Club. An interest in herd and flock health planning is essential. The role includes an equally shared, farm-only out-of-hours rota.
Our Ideal Candidate:
We’re keen to welcome a vet who has gained solid initial experience in a farm or mixed practice role and is able to work confidently and independently whilst participating in the farm-only out-of-hours rota without immediate backup.

Due to one of our colleagues emigrating to Australia, Galedin Veterinary currently has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to carry out small animal duties at our multi species branch in Galashiels.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic person to join our friendly and professional team. This is a FTE role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus an equal share of a Saturday morning rota. There is no OOH commitment with this role.
We aim to provide excellent first opinion care to our patients, and a great service to our loyal, long-standing clients. The applicant must be a registered member of the RCVS and be up to date with CPD.
Salary will be from £27,352 to £29,993 and dependent upon experience.
