Veterinary Surgeon - SA ECC OOH

We are recruiting for a full-time small animal veterinary surgeon to join our out of hours service in Galashiels in the Scottish borders. The position is full time however there is a degree of flexibility and part time can be considered.


The practice provides OOH cover on weeknights and weekends for several practices along the Scottish borders. The position is ideal for someone who is passionate about small animal emergency and critical care work.


We are a very supportive, friendly practice who provide an excellent service to our clients and are looking for someone who is comfortable with sole charge work whilst working alongside an RVN on site. There is a team available who can provide back up if required.

Facilities:
The practice is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities as one would expect from a modern animal hospital and OOH service.

State of the Art equipment including in house blood machines (biochemistry, haematology, blood gas analysis), digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy

Purpose built ICU on site

Bright, spacious air-conditioned practice

 

About You:

You must have a strong work ethic and provide an excellent high standard of clinical service

You will have a passion for emergency and critical care work

You will be confident in all areas of routine surgeries and medical cases

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop a great rapport with both clients and staff.

You will be a strong team player

 

Package:

Salary: up to £58,100 commensurate to experience

6.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata for part time)

Equine Vet - Maternity Cover - 12 Months FTC

Seeking: Equine vet. 12-month maternity cover. 4.5 day week. 1:6 OOH rota.

Where: Galedin Veterinary, Cheeklaw Veterinary Centre, Station Road, Duns, TD11 3HS.

When: May / June 2024

Background: We are a busy, 6-vet equine team, working within a large mixed-practice branch in Duns, approximately 1 hour south of Edinburgh. The branch is part of the wider Galedin team (www.galedinvet.com) within the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and North Northumberland. In the Equine team we cater for all types of equids; including horses, donkeys and mules, out on the road and at our equine clinic, additionally we provide our own OOH cover, for which we cover equine only.

Who we need: We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced equine vet to join us for 12 months while one of our fabulous vets has her new baby! We would encourage you to come and visit us at the clinic to see if you think we would be a great fit for you.

What we can offer you:   Varied 1st opinion caseload, with back up of a referral centre 1 hour away.
Working day 08.30 – 18:00, and we nearly always get away for lunch! 

A 4.5 day working week, with the option to take a half day off per week or a full day off per fortnight.

Modern equine diagnostic equipment including video endoscope, video gastroscope, battery operated digital radiography, HD oroscope, ultrasound and three motorised HDE/Dynamic dental kits.

Company car with personal use, along with a work phone and RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid for.
Support of an experienced and friendly team of vets, most of us have been with the practice for 3 years +.

Varied experience and interest within the team; with one colleague having a keen interest in dentistry, two colleagues enrolled in a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Internal Medicine.
Really strong team ethos with an active social committee, we organise everything from cinema outings to zip-lining to stand-up paddle boarding!
Salary dependant on experience, but up to £42,000 for FT hours.
6.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata for PT)
CPD encouraged and funded - 5 days annually with £1,750 budget (pro rata for PT)
