We are able to provide top level care to almost any kind of pet
Here at Galedin, we know that whether the animal you look after is feathered or shelled, furry or scaly, they still hold a special place in your heart. Our ethos is to provide care for all animals that are brought to us. This means that if you have a less common pet, they will still receive excellent treatment from our experienced vets.
In the past, we have cared for birds of prey, chickens, reptiles and even frogs. Our huge team of vets have a wealth of experience in caring for all sorts of creatures, so you can rest assured that there is somebody in our practice to help your companion’s situation.
Just like more common pets, exotic animals need to be examined regularly by the experts, so you should bring your pet to see us every 6 months.
If you are thinking about getting an exotic creature, we would also urge you to come and speak to us before doing so. Caring for one of these animals can be a challenge, so it’s important to make sure you know about the specific care they require before you commit to taking one home.
Their natural environment
Many exotic animals need carefully controlled lighting and heating to avoid them falling ill. This environment should also allow for their natural behaviour, such as burrowing or climbing.
How long they’ll live and how big they will get
Make sure that you are prepared for this and have the right amount of space to look after them.
If the animal should be kept alone or with others
As mentioned, their environment with you should replicate their natural habitat, so if they are usually with other animals, you may need to get more than one.
Their natural behaviours
Some creatures have particular behaviour patterns, such as being nocturnal. You should consider whether this will fit in with your lifestyle.
Licenses
Some exotic animals require you to have a license to legally look after them. Have you investigated whether your chosen pet means you’ll need to obtain special permission?
